Q: What is the language of instruction in the Primary School?
A: The Primary School offers two academic pathways for Grades 1 to 5:
- Arabic Pathway: Core subjects are taught through an integrated approach in Arabic, with English taught at an advanced level, and French or Spanish offered as a third language.
- English Pathway: Core subjects are taught through an integrated approach in English, with Arabic taught alongside French or Spanish at varying levels.
Q: What are the school hours in the Primary School?
A: The school day begins at 7:10 am and ends at 2:00 pm, except on Tuesdays, when the school day ends at 1:00 pm During Ramadan, the school day is shorter, and the new timing will be announced then.
Q: Will students in the Arabic Pathway study all subjects in Arabic?
A: In the Arabic Pathway, core subjects - including Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Islamic Education, and the Arts - are taught in Arabic. Students also study English at an advanced level and are introduced to scientific terminology in English, in addition to learning French or Spanish as a third language.
Q: Will students in the Arabic Pathway be able to continue their studies in English smoothly in the upper grades?
A: Yes, absolutely. This pathway is designed to strengthen students’ mother tongue as a solid foundation for learning, which in turn supports the acquisition of additional languages with depth and confidence. Through advanced English instruction from the early years, students develop strong language skills that enable a smooth transition to English-instruction in later stages.
